family ties
What a joy and a privilege it is to not only capture but participate in feeling the love and connectedness of families.
I love capturing families as I am a mother of three boys and I know how important it is for parents to have imagery of themselves interacting with their family as days turn into years and flash by-when I shoot hands being held, tickles, smiles of affection, belly laughs-my heart soars as I know from personal experience how much these families will cherish being able to look back and experience it all over again.
kute kidlets
I love taking photos of children as they are our best teachers of living fully in the moment.
Children have a special way of reminding me that the little things in life bring us the greatest joy and that we can wear our hearts and emotions on our sleeves. Their eyes light up when they see a cat walk by on a fence or hear a plane in the sky or a toad hops by their feet…they show the excitement, intrigue and interest readily on their faces. Their eyes shed tears when they get hurt, are scared or tired…they don’t hold back, they just express. To capture those expressions is a gift. To watch them grow session after session is a gift. It has been an honour and a pleasure to photograph children, year after year.
new arrivals
Newborns are miracles reminding us of how fragile, beautiful and precious life truly is.
When a client asks me if I take newborn shots, my response is always, ‘yes, but I get to hold the baby during the session, it’s part of the deal.’They laugh and say, ‘of course!’ There is nothing sweeter and more fleeting that capturing those first images of baby toes, hair and fingers. The little smiles, the stretches, the yawns, the cuddles…The love and adoration of parent to baby and sibling to baby are some of my favourite moments to photograph and it is an honour and a privilege to do so. I am delighted to take lifestyle imagery at your home or in a picturesque outdoor setting.
generations
Hard not to cry thinking of how endearing it is to photograph a granddaughter gripping her grandpa’s hand or the look in the eyes of a couple who have been married for 50 years as they twirl and dance on their anniversary day…
Time moves on…sometimes it can feel like the pace of a snail and others it can feel as if it’s whizzing by so fast and you have no idea when your hair became grey or you acquired new wrinkles…where does the time go? The beauty of photographing every stage of life is that you can immortalize those moments and revisit them anytime you like. As we age, it is so very special to document experiences with all generations of your family together…this is your family tree, this is your family legacy, this is your history and your future. Don’t let it pass you by.
femmes
I would say that photographing women gives me energy. They are my muse. I can relate to them.
I love it when they let their hair down (literally and otherwise) and embrace who they are, all of who they are in the given moment. I especially love it when they laugh or when their face reflects how they feel about an important person or memory. Women are strong. Women are survivors. They are our mothers, our daughters, our mentors, our peers…each one a beautiful soul in her own right. I love it when they set up the shot because they are owning it…those shots are the keepers….that’s where their heart is and that’s what I aim to capture.
pals
True friends bring out emotions in us like nobody else can … the giggles, the tears, the sillies.
I remember doing a shoot of two lifelong best friends and as they reminisced, laughed and shed tears, I thought, wow, I wish I was doing a shoot like this with my closest friends. To take the time to really connect with someone you have gone through the ups and downs of life with and capture those moments is a gift. It makes me so happy to photograph the big squeezie hugs, smiles, laughter and goofy & mellow moments of those we really depend on and care about.
love what you do
I am extremely passionate about photographing people doing what they love to do because that is where ‘goosebumps’ are born.
To be inspired is a gift and I am never more inspired than when I photograph someone else fully immersed in doing what they love…the kind of focus, joy and intensity is a truth that can’t be denied and can’t help but be felt and it comes out in the image.

Life Messages photo sessions are about taking some moments to reflect on what your experiences have taught you and brings to the forefront your most important life lesson as a person, as a best friend, as a significant partner, as an entrepreneur, as a family member, as a grandparent, as a survivor, or as a group with a cause…I then ask you to write this heartfelt message in your own words and sign your name(s) to it! Inevitably, there are tears, laughter and ‘goosebumps’ as you share and then as we have fun taking your portrait while you hold your special message to yourself and to the world! This process impacts all who see your message as they learn from you, know what you value and also feel less alone in this world. This process impacts you as you are empowered to know what’s in your heart and to trust that your voice has worth. Everyone should do a life message! This is your legacy!
